Zamfara Bandits Abduct Retired Colonel, His Two Children

Gusau, Zamfara State – On the Gusau-Tsafe Road in Zamfara State, gunmen suspected to be bandits abducted a retired colonel named Rabi’u Yandoto and his two children, Punch reported.

Mohammed Hassan, a local, claimed that Yandoto was travelling with his two children to his hometown on Sunday night when he was ambushed by the bandits and taken to the jungle.

He said: “The bandits ambushed the retired colonel on Sunday night and kidnapped him along with his two children and two other victims”.

“We heard gunshots and started running into the bush for fear of the bandits but later realised that Colonel Yandoto was their target.”

Yandoto is a Senator Kabiru Marafa’s political rival, who has been running campaigns against Marafa’s desire to be elected in 2023.

He is also the leader of Zamfara All Progressive Congress political organization known as “Wake da Shinkafa”, which advocates that Kabiru Marafa should not be elected to the Senate in 2023 again.

SP Mohammed Shehu, the state police command’s spokesperson, was unavailable for comment at the time this report was filed, despite repeated attempts to call him.
