A Nigerian posted an elongated 1000 Naira note on Twitter asking whether the currency is genuine or not.

In his tweet, Comrade Haroun also posted new 200 Naira note that was mutated at the edge, making it to be incomplete.

Several tweets about the mutated 1000 and 200 Naira notes went viral on social media, causing fears and concern about the new currency.

Recall that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has assured Nigerians that the new naira notes were available in all the banks across the country.

But, Nigerians are concerned that the new currency is not available and most of the redesigned naira notes that are in circulation are fake.

Meanwhile, most of the business owners have already announced that they would stop accepting the old Naira notes on 25th of January.

Deadline for New Naira Notes

However, the CBN maintained that the deadline for accepting old Naira notes remain 31st of January, 2023.

Reacting to the tweet, Nigerians have expressed concern about the new currency.

In her tweet, Miss Peals said “Are the New Naira Notes Mutating”?.

Replying to her tweet, GRAYSALT said ” N1,010 naira, that extra length must count for something o”.

A Transmission Line replied ” I don tire sef”.

Spotlex tweeted “Use scissors arrange am, the printing and fitting machine have spoil finish”.

While JohnAjk said ” I want to believe these naira notes were printed in Emefiele’s office, He couldn’t even take a moment to at least arrange the page set-up before hitting the Enter key.”
