The Emir of Gombe State, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III attended the prayer of rain, together with the members of the community on the State Eid grounds.
Salatul Istisqa, the prayer for rain was organised in the state seeking Allah’s mercy and intervention to bestow rain in the state which will boost agriculture; fishing, farming and other activities that need rain.
There has been a drought in the State, which is known for farming, thus causing great concern and fear of famine. Other States involved in the same situation include Bauchi, Borno and Yola, which are also known and rely on farming.
The prayer was performed on the Emir’s Eid ground located in Tudun Wada Gombe, and other jum’at Masjid in the State, including Bolari Central masjid, Pantami and other places.
People from near and far away gathered together with the Emir, Imams and some other respected personalities to organise the prayer according to Islamic rites.
However, the Imam calls on the attention of the general public to seek forgiveness from Allah and deemed the situation as a ” Challenging one.”
It’s hoped that the drought will not continue beyond today, which will be an indication of blessings upon us and our farming.
